Documentary wedding photography
– Reigate, Surrey

Candid, story‑driven wedding photography in Reigate and across Surrey

I’m a specialist documentary wedding photographer based in Reigate, Surrey. My candid, unobtrusive style captures the genuine emotions and hidden moments that make your day truly unique. By blending seamlessly with the bride, groom, family, and guests, I preserve every smile, tear, and spontaneous laugh – even the ones you might otherwise miss.

Why Choose a Documentary Approach?

Authentic storytelling, not staged poses

  • Natural moments: No forced smiles or posed shots.

  • Full‑day coverage: From the quiet pre‑ceremony preparations to the lively reception.

  • Discreet presence: I work quietly in the background, letting you enjoy the day.

Serving Surrey, Greater London and beyond
– will travel anywhere

While my base is in Reigate, I happily travel to capture weddings throughout Surrey, Kent, Sussex, and the wider South East. No destination is too far for your love story.

My Story

From a Kodak 126 in my hands at age 4 to a professional documentary wedding photographer in Reigate, my love of image‑making has been lifelong. After completing a two‑year General Art & Design course at Reigate Art College (1989‑91), I earned an HND in Photography from the Kent Institute of Art & Design, Rochester (1993).

During college, I worked with every film format – 35 mm, 120 roll, 5×4 sheet – and mastered wet‑processing my own negatives and prints. Today, I blend that hands‑on foundation with modern digital workflow to capture authentic wedding moments.

I live with my artist‑illustrator wife, our three wonderful daughters and two dogs. Adventure, the outdoors, art, culture and a fascination with human behaviour fuel my creative eye and make me a better storyteller behind the camera.

Inspiration

As well as shooting weddings in a factual, creative style, I have a deep passion for press and documentary photography, citing photographers Don McCullin, Gary Winogrand, and organisations such as Magnum Photos and National Geographic as influences and inspiration. My favourite contemporary brand, commercial and editorial photographer is James Bowden, and my favourite wedding photographers are Jeff Ascough and Kevin Mullins.
